Porsche 993 GT2 Tube Frame SCCA Race Car:

The title is quite a mouthful but this was a relatively well know racer in the late 90’s and into the 2000’s in the North American SCCA series. At that time it was campaigned with a well built normally aspirated engine. I was attracted to it because it had a professionally fabricated and installed 993 rear suspension. I bought it minus the engine and it came with all the body panel moulds strapped to the roof and inside the car! It is a well built tube frame conversion on an original (1979?) 911 tub. I bought some excellent mono ball suspension and big red Brembo calipers and discs. I still have the rear to source and install.

The body will be a wide body (Rook style) 993 race car. I tried all sorts of contacts and companies to get hold of the Rook body kit but I have not found one yet. My plan is to make my own from various 993 race panels that I have and do some custom Kevlar / carbon work. Luckily, I have some of the panels that came off my 935 recreation that used to run a wide 993 GT2 body. I may also use the 18” wheels from that car.

The engine will be a 3.8l twin turbo GT2 spec unit with custom top mount intercooler. I may run individual throttle bodies and an aftermarket ECU such as MoTeC or similar.
